Mon, 30 Mar 2009 05:46:32 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.9.2 en hourly 1 Confirmation http://www.nonameblog.com/2007/01/25/confirmation/ http://www.nonameblog.com/2007/01/25/confirmation/#comments Fri, 26 Jan 2007 04:27:27 +0000 Matt http://www.nonameblog.com/2007/01/25/confirmation/ I got asked to be a confirmation sponsor for one of the teens at church.  This is the second time I’ve been asked by one the of the kiddos that I barely know to be their sponsor.  It’s an odd feeling.  In some ways, it’s very faltering.  In others, scary.  In still others, like an obligation – after all, Tiff and I are involved in youth ministry there, so how could I say no.  Anyway, it’s a great chance to revisit the faith a bit.  I’m hopping to get a little out of it along the way.  Pray for me, and for James – he’s getting confirmed.

We call it FYI – For Your Inspiration. It’s for the teens and young adults at our parish – St. Helena. It takes place every fourth Wednesday at 7:00pm.

We’ve had moderate success. There are about 20 kiddos every time, but it’s primarily a different bunch. Hopefully, we’ll start to get them all at the same time. :) We’ll see. We have a great band, named Salvation, helping us out and the kids are starting to dig them. We’ll keep hoping and praying, I guess.

In the meantime, because our target audience is primarily teenagers, we broke down and set up a MySpace page for FYI. I personally don’t have a high opinion of that site, in general, but it will hopefully help us get the word out to the kids easier. There’s not much to it right now, but I’m working it. Keep checking.
