Well, this is a bit dated, but since I’ve decided to get back into blogging, I figured I should give a little online shout-out to my Texas Tech Red Raiders.  This season had all the potential to cause a coronary – we won some games we were supposed to lose, lost some games we should have easily won and somehow managed to blow a substantial lead on a top 20 team twice!  All in all, it wasn’t the season that Tech Fans had hoped for back in August.

That being said, our boys did finish another year with enough ticks in the W column to warrant a bowl bid.  Now, I’ve never heard of the insight bowl before, and if I hadn’t been smart enough to check with my cable provider, I might not have known where to find it on the TV.  But man, what a treat it was! (well for about a quarter and a half that is.)  I don’t need to waste a lot of time recapping it all.  Here is a perfectly good write-up on the game.

In a season where the team seemed to be as inconsistent as the West Texas winds they practice in, what better way to cap it off than to rally from a 31 point deficit to win the game in overtime?  Let’s not forget the heroics of the 52 yard field goal that got us in the extended period, or the poetic justice of our famous passing offense winning the game on a rushing touchdown either.  Sometimes you just have to look at the unexpected as a gift.

So thanks for another successful season, guys.  As one of the Raider faithful that wants to see us break through to the next level of play, it wasn’t what I’d hoped, but it sure was one hell of a ride.  Thank you, also for one of the best bowl games of the year.  I agree with Coach Leach – it would be easier if we didn’t “spot them so many points” first, but we all appreciated watching you fight back and never giving up.  We’ll see you next fall.

Go Tech!
